Breakfast at Our New Orleans Inn
Do You Enjoy a Delicious Breakfast?
Whitney House provides a casually elegant New Orleans breakfast experience each morning. We generally serve a hot breakfast between 8:30-9:30, but may be able to accommodate a slightly earlier or later breakfast with advance notice. We prepare something different each morning and strive to accommodate our guests’ special dietary needs. Please let us know well in advance if you are vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, sensitive to food allergies, or simply abstain from certain foods for personal or religious reasons. We’ll try our best to accommodate.
Specialities
Our specialties include freshly baked ham & cheese croissants, Eggs Whitney (our take on Eggs Benedict), ham, cheese and bacon omelette, waffles with fresh fruit and whipped cream, praline pecan pain perdu (French toast casserole). There are times throughout the year when we might cook a full Southern-style breakfast, complete with bacon, eggs, biscuits, and grits. Or for very special occasions, our Eggs Sardou might be on the menu.
Twice each year, we move breakfast to the front porch so that we may cheer on participants in the Rock’n’Roll Mardi Gras Marathon and the Crescent City Classic 10K Run. We invite neighbors, friends, and houseguests to enjoy a spread complete with mimosas, bloody marys, bagels, salmon & cream cheese, and assorted casseroles and canapes. We like to adopt Auntie Mame’s adage of “Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death!” We’re not going to let that happen on our watch!
Regardless of whatever might be planned for the morning’s menu, no New Orleans breakfast could be complete without our Community dark roast coffee. Also available are assorted teas, orange juice (occasionally cranberry or pineapple), fresh fruit, cereal, and milk. We also try to incorporate a fruit garnish into every plate or sometimes even a separate fruit plate.
If you’re not around when breakfast is being served, snacks, bottled water, and soda are available around the clock at your convenience.
