Scarlett O’Hara Room

Gone with the Wind memorabilia adorns our always popular Scarlett O’Hara Room.  This room allows in plenty of light with its three large windows overlooking the garden, pool and carriageway.  But no worries if you wish to sleep in one, or all, of your mornings.  We’ve cut-up Miss Scarlett’s velvet green ballgown and returned them to the windows where they belong!  They are plenty thick enough to block out the dawning of another day!

The four-poster queen rice bed sits a little higher than the bed in some of the other rooms, but that just adds to the plantation-style ambiance of the Scarlett O’Hara Room.  The entire room is dressed in greens and golds and is suitable for a maximum occupancy of two guests.  A settee is positioned at the foot of the bed in case you’d like to watch something on the 20″ flat panel TV with built-in DVD player and digital satellite signal.

There’s also a small armoire to hang some clothes, a ceiling fan, and a portable auxiliary air conditioning unit for those really hot days when the home’s central AC is leaving the Scarlett O’Hara Room feeling like a New Orleans summer circa 1865.  Cotton Chadsworth & Haig waffle bathrobes and slippers are provided for your use during your stay as well as luxurious towels from the Turkish Towel Company, high-quality Comphy bed linens and Aromae-brand botanical bath amenities.   Each room is also equipped with hairdryer, iron & board, room safe, and smoke alarm.

Guests in the Scarlett O’Hara Room have private use of the downstairs hall bath.  The bath is accessible by the rear staircase located just outside of the bedroom door.  This was the home’s second bathroom, added about 1920, just behind the kitchen on the first floor.  The bath features an antique claw-foot tub with shower and brass fixtures.  The back side of the kitchen’s chimney adds a great effect to the bath.
